After a complicated heroin deal goes wrong, small-time drug dealer Frank loses both the money and the merchandise, and finds himself massively in debt to Balkan drug baron Milo. As time goes by the pressure mounts, with Frank trying to repay the money in the face of Milo’s increasing frustration. Nicolas Winding Refn’s debut Pusher is an adrenaline rush tour through the Copenhagen drug world. Pusher is a 1996 Danish crime thriller film co-written and directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, in his film debut. A commercial success considered to be influential in Danish film history, it marked Mads Mikkelsen’s film debut.
